Pediatric cancer is often aggressive and has a high mortality rate. Among childhood cancers, pediatric brain tumors are the most common cause of death among pediatric cancers1. There are 2 major groups of fusions identified in pediatric brain cancer, RELA fusions and YAP1 fusions. The two fusions have opposite clinical implications and both occur with significant frequency. Determining which of these mutations is present can inform treatment and help clinicians provide the best outcome for the patients.
