P16 (CDKN2A) FISH Probe
Our P16 probe is designed to detect P16 amplifications and deletions. The probe comes labeled in orange, but can be customized to meet your needs.
Gene Background: P16 encodes several proteins that vary in their first exons, including p16 and p14. Both operate as tumor suppressors, maintaining appropriate cell growth, development, and senescence. They’re also both inhibitors of CDK4 kinase, and operate in sync with CDK4 and p53 to regulate cell cycle G1 progression. P16 mutations are found in up to one quarter of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC), 40% of familial melanomas, and is partially or completely deleted in approximately half of melanomas.
