CSF1R Break Apart FISH Probe

Our CSF1R break apart probe is designed to detect CSF1R translocations. The probe comes labeled in orange and green, but can be customized to meet your needs.

Gene Background: CSF1R encodes the receptor for colony stimulating factor 1, a cytokine that regulates the production, development, and function of macrophages.1 The gene also promotes the release of proinflammatory chemokines in response to IL34 and CSF1, so plays a key role in innate immunity.3 CSF1R aberrations are correlated with a predisposition to myeloid malignancies, Hodgkin lymphoma, and anaplastic large cell lymphoma.1 Rearrangements of the gene were first discovered in acute megakaryoblastic leukemia (AMKL) cell lines, where it was fused with RBM6.2 Since then, multiple CSF1R fusion partners have been identified in various cancers, including MEF2D-CSF1R in primary pre-B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (pre-B ALL) and SSBP2-CSF1R in Philadelphia chromosome-like ALL.1

Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is the receptor for colony stimulating factor 1, a cytokine which controls the production, differentiation, and function of macrophages. This receptor mediates most if not all of the biological effects of this cytokine. Ligand binding activates the receptor kinase through a process of oligomerization and transphosphorylation. The encoded protein is a tyrosine kinase transmembrane receptor and member of the CSF1/PDGF receptor family of tyrosine-protein kinases. Mutations in this gene have been associated with a predisposition to myeloid malignancy. The first intron of this gene contains a transcriptionally inactive ribosomal protein L7 processed pseudogene oriented in the opposite direction. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Expression of a splice variant from an LTR promoter has been found in Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), HL cell lines and anaplastic large cell lymphoma. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2017]
