TSNAX-DISC1 FISH Probe
The TSNAX-DISC1 FISH probe is designed to hybridize to the TSNAX-DISC1 gene and is primarily used for detecting amplifications and deletions associated with the gene. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe can be labeled in one of five colors. Each probe is sold in a 20 test kit (approximately 20 slides - 22x22 mm area) and includes hybridization buffer. Please note that due to design optimizations, prices are subject to change.

Gene Summary
This gene represents naturally occurring read-through transcription between the neighboring TSNAX (translin-associated factor X) and DISC1 (disrupted in schizophrenia 1) genes on chromosome 1. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, all of which are candidates for nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) and are unlikely to be protein-coding. These alterations in gene processing may be associated with risk for psychiatric illness, most notably, schizophrenia. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]
