RER FISH Probe
The RER FISH probe is designed to hybridize to the RER gene and is primarily used for detecting amplifications and deletions associated with the gene. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe can be labeled in one of five colors. Each probe is sold in a 20 test kit (approximately 20 slides - 22x22 mm area) and includes hybridization buffer. Please note that due to design optimizations, prices are subject to change.

Gene Summary
This element represents a conserved regulatory region upstream of the rhodopsin (RHO) gene, where the orthologous bovine sequence functions as a RHO enhancer in retinal cells of transgenic mice. This conserved region also shares a region of homology with the opsin locus control region (OPSIN-LCR), which controls cone cell-specific expression of the red/green cone pigment genes on chromosome X. However, the bovine rhodopsin enhancer does not display transgene copy number-dependent or position-independent activity, and it is therefore not an LCR. This human conserved region is thought to bind retina-specific transcription factors, and it forms looping interactions with the RHO gene in rod cells. [provided by RefSeq, May 2016]
