PAK1 Break Apart FISH Probe

Empire Genomics’ PAK1 Break Apart FISH Probe is designed to flank the PAK1 gene and is typically used for detecting PAK1 rearrangements such as translocations. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe comes labeled in green and orange by default, but may be customized to meet your needs.

Gene Summary

This gene encodes a family member of serine/threonine p21-activating kinases, known as PAK proteins. These proteins are critical effectors that link RhoGTPases to cytoskeleton reorganization and nuclear signaling, and they serve as targets for the small GTP binding proteins Cdc42 and Rac. This specific family member regulates cell motility and morphology. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Distinct Patterns of Acral Melanoma Based on Site and Relative Sun Exposure

Acral melanomas vary considerably in their molecular, histological, and clinical presentation. In this study, acral melanomas from dorsal, volar, and subungual-interdigital body sites were assessed using several tests, including FISH. Our TERT, CCND1, CDK4, AURKA, CDKN2A, PAK1, PTEN, NF1, and GAB2 probes were used to detect copy number variations in these genes. Genetic profiles were found to be tightly tied to UV exposure.
