PAK1 FISH Probe

The PAK1 FISH probe is designed to hybridize to the PAK1 gene and is primarily used for detecting amplifications and deletions associated with the gene. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe can be labeled in one of five colors. Each probe is sold in a 20 test kit (approximately 20 slides - 22x22 mm area) and includes hybridization buffer. Please note that due to design optimizations, prices are subject to change.

Gene Summary

This gene encodes a family member of serine/threonine p21-activating kinases, known as PAK proteins. These proteins are critical effectors that link RhoGTPases to cytoskeleton reorganization and nuclear signaling, and they serve as targets for the small GTP binding proteins Cdc42 and Rac. This specific family member regulates cell motility and morphology. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Distinct Patterns of Acral Melanoma Based on Site and Relative Sun Exposure

Acral melanomas vary considerably in their molecular, histological, and clinical presentation. In this study, acral melanomas from dorsal, volar, and subungual-interdigital body sites were assessed using several tests, including FISH. Our TERT, CCND1, CDK4, AURKA, CDKN2A, PAK1, PTEN, NF1, and GAB2 probes were used to detect copy number variations in these genes. Genetic profiles were found to be tightly tied to UV exposure.
