ORS8 Break Apart FISH Probe
Empire Genomics’ ORS8 Break Apart FISH Probe is designed to flank the ORS8 gene and is typically used for detecting ORS8 rearrangements such as translocations. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe comes labeled in green and orange by default, but may be customized to meet your needs.

Gene Summary
This region represents an origin of DNA replication that was first identified in African green monkey cells. Unlike the monkey origin, which replicates early, this human sequence replicates late in S phase. This sequence recognizes and binds Ku80 protein (X-ray repair complementing defective repair in Chinese hamster cells 5) during G1 phase, which recruits topoisomerase (DNA) II beta and results in transient double-strand breaks in this region. These breaks are important for recruitment of additional proteins involved in origin activity, including origin recognition complex subunit 2, chromatin licensing and DNA replication factor 1, and cell division cycle 45.
