HEL-S-55 FISH Probe
The HEL-S-55 FISH probe is designed to hybridize to the HEL-S-55 gene and is primarily used for detecting amplifications and deletions associated with the gene. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe can be labeled in one of five colors. Each probe is sold in a 20 test kit (approximately 20 slides - 22x22 mm area) and includes hybridization buffer. Please note that due to design optimizations, prices are subject to change.

Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes, which reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides. The encoded protein interacts with peroxisome receptor 1 and plays an antioxidant protective role in different tissues under normal conditions and during inflammatory processes. The use of alternate transcription start sites is thought to result in transcript variants that use different in-frame translational start codons to generate isoforms that are targeted to the mitochondrion (isoform L) or peroxisome/cytoplasm (isoform S).
