BLOC1S1-RDH5 FISH Probe
The BLOC1S1-RDH5 FISH probe is designed to hybridize to the BLOC1S1-RDH5 gene and is primarily used for detecting amplifications and deletions associated with the gene. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe can be labeled in one of five colors. Each probe is sold in a 20 test kit (approximately 20 slides - 22x22 mm area) and includes hybridization buffer. Please note that due to design optimizations, prices are subject to change.

Gene Summary
This locus represents naturally occurring read-through transcription between the neighboring BLOC1S1 (biogenesis of lysosomal organelles complex-1, subunit 1) and RDH5 (retinol dehydrogenase 5, 11-cis/9-cis) genes on chromosome 12. The read-through transcript is a candidate for nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD), and it is therefore unlikely to produce a protein product. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]
