BACE1-AS1 FISH Probe

The BACE1-AS1 FISH probe is designed to hybridize to the BACE1-AS1 gene and is primarily used for detecting amplifications and deletions associated with the gene. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe can be labeled in one of five colors. Each probe is sold in a 20 test kit (approximately 20 slides - 22x22 mm area) and includes hybridization buffer. Please note that due to design optimizations, prices are subject to change.

Gene Summary

This gene encodes an unspliced long non-coding RNA transcribed from the opposite strand to BACE1. The encoded transcript is thought to form an RNA duplex with BACE1 mRNA thereby regulating its expression and is also thought to promote post-transcriptional feed-forward regulation of BACE1. This may lead to increased levels of beta amyloid and increased senile plaque deposition, and therefore may play a role in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]
