AURKA Break Apart FISH Probe

Empire Genomics’ AURKA Break Apart FISH Probe is designed to flank the AURKA gene and is typically used for detecting AURKA rearrangements such as translocations. This probe is FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood metaphase spreads and interphase nuclei. The probe comes labeled in green and orange by default, but may be customized to meet your needs.

Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a cell cycle-regulated kinase that appears to be involved in microtubule formation and/or stabilization at the spindle pole during chromosome segregation. The encoded protein is found at the centrosome in interphase cells and at the spindle poles in mitosis. This gene may play a role in tumor development and progression. A processed pseudogene of this gene has been found on chromosome 1, and an unprocessed pseudogene has been found on chromosome 10. Multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Distinct Patterns of Acral Melanoma Based on Site and Relative Sun Exposure

Acral melanomas vary considerably in their molecular, histological, and clinical presentation. In this study, acral melanomas from dorsal, volar, and subungual-interdigital body sites were assessed using several tests, including FISH. Our TERT, CCND1, CDK4, AURKA, CDKN2A, PAK1, PTEN, NF1, and GAB2 probes were used to detect copy number variations in these genes. Genetic profiles were found to be tightly tied to UV exposure.
