ZMIZ1-BTD Fusion FISH Probe
The ZMIZ1-BTD Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ZMIZ1 and BTD genes. The fusion of the ZMIZ1 and BTD genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

BTD Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene functions to recycle protein-bound biotin by cleaving biocytin (biotin-epsilon-lysine), a normal product of carboxylase degradation, resulting in regeneration of free biotin. The encoded protein has also been shown to have biotinyl transferase activity. Mutations in this gene are associated with biotinidase deficiency. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]
Gene Name: Biotinidase
Chromosome: CHR3: 15643254 -15687325
Locus: 3p25.1
ZMIZ1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the PIAS (protein inhibitor of activated STAT) family of proteins. The encoded protein regulates the activity of various transcription factors, including the androgen receptor, Smad3/4, and p53. The encoded protein may also play a role in sumoylation. A translocation between this locus on chromosome 10 and the protein tyrosine kinase ABL1 locus on chromosome 9 has been associated with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]
Gene Name: Zinc Finger MIZ-type Containing 1
