YARS-IMPA2 Fusion FISH Probe

The YARS-IMPA2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the YARS and IMPA2 genes. The fusion of the YARS and IMPA2 genes has been associated with Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

IMPA2 Gene Summary

This locus encodes an inositol monophosphatase. The encoded protein catalyzes the dephosphoylration of inositol monophosphate and plays an important role in phosphatidylinositol signaling. This locus may be associated with susceptibility to bipolar disorder. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011]

Gene Name: Inositol Monophosphatase 2

Chromosome: CHR18: 11981426 -12030885

Locus: 18p11.21

YARS Gene Summary

Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases catalyze the aminoacylation of tRNA by their cognate amino acid. Because of their central role in linking amino acids with nucleotide triplets contained in tRNAs, aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are thought to be among the first proteins that appeared in evolution. Tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase belongs to the class I tRNA synthetase family. Cytokine activities have also been observed for the human tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase, after it is split into two parts, an N-terminal fragment that harbors the catalytic site and a C-terminal fragment found only in the mammalian enzyme. The N-terminal fragment is an interleukin-8-like cytokine, whereas the released C-terminal fragment is an EMAP II-like cytokine. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
