XPO5-VARS Fusion FISH Probe
The XPO5-VARS Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the XPO5 and VARS genes. The fusion of the XPO5 and VARS genes has been associated with Esophageal Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

VARS Gene Summary
Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases catalyze the aminoacylation of tRNA by their cognate amino acid. Because of their central role in linking amino acids with nucleotide triplets contained in tRNAs, aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are thought to be among the first proteins that appeared in evolution. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to class-I aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family and is located in the class III region of the major histocompatibility complex. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Valyl-tRNA Synthetase
Chromosome: CHR6_dbb_hap3: 3030878 -3049294
Locus: 6p21.33
XPO5 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the karyopherin family that is required for the transport of small RNAs and double-stranded RNA-binding proteins from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. The encoded protein translocates cargo through the nuclear pore complex in a RanGTP-dependent process. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
Gene Name: Exportin 5
Chromosome: CHR6: 43490067 -43543812
Locus: 6p21.1
