WEE1-CHRNA3 Fusion FISH Probe
The WEE1-CHRNA3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the WEE1 and CHRNA3 genes. The fusion of the WEE1 and CHRNA3 genes has been associated with Cervical Squamous Cell Carcinoma And Endocervical Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

CHRNA3 Gene Summary
This locus encodes a member of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor family of proteins. Members of this family of proteins form pentameric complexes comprised of both alpha and beta subunits. This locus encodes an alpha-type subunit, as it contains characteristic adjacent cysteine residues. The encoded protein is a ligand-gated ion channel that likely plays a role in neurotransmission. Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with an increased risk of smoking initiation and an increased susceptibility to lung cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]
Gene Name: Cholinergic Receptor Nicotinic Alpha 3 Subunit
Chromosome: CHR15: 78885394 -78913637
Locus: 15q25.1
WEE1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a nuclear protein, which is a tyrosine kinase belonging to the Ser/Thr family of protein kinases. This protein catalyzes the inhibitory tyrosine phosphorylation of CDC2/cyclin B kinase, and appears to coordinate the transition between DNA replication and mitosis by protecting the nucleus from cytoplasmically activated CDC2 kinase. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: WEE1 G2 Checkpoint Kinase
Chromosome: CHR11: 9595227 -9611313
