VPS53-MYH2 Fusion FISH Probe
The VPS53-MYH2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the VPS53 and MYH2 genes. The fusion of the VPS53 and MYH2 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

MYH2 Gene Summary
Myosins are actin-based motor proteins that function in the generation of mechanical force in eukaryotic cells. Muscle myosins are heterohexamers composed of 2 myosin heavy chains and 2 pairs of nonidentical myosin light chains. This gene encodes a member of the class II or conventional myosin heavy chains, and functions in skeletal muscle contraction. This gene is found in a cluster of myosin heavy chain genes on chromosome 17. A mutation in this gene results in inclusion body myopathy-3. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]
Gene Name: Myosin Heavy Chain 2
Chromosome: CHR17: 10424464 -10453017
Locus: 17p13.1
VPS53 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein with sequence similarity to the yeast Vps53p protein. Vps53p is involved in retrograde vesicle trafficking in late Golgi. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: VPS53, GARP Complex Subunit
Chromosome: CHR17: 411907 -618096
Locus: 17p13.3
