UMPS-ERC2 Fusion FISH Probe
The UMPS-ERC2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the UMPS and ERC2 genes. The fusion of the UMPS and ERC2 genes has been associated with Brain Lower Grade Glioma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

UMPS Gene Summary
This gene encodes a uridine 5'-monophosphate synthase. The encoded protein is a bifunctional enzyme that catalyzes the final two steps of the de novo pyrimidine biosynthetic pathway. The first reaction is carried out by the N-terminal enzyme orotate phosphoribosyltransferase which converts orotic acid to orotidine-5'-monophosphate. The terminal reaction is carried out by the C-terminal enzyme OMP decarboxylase which converts orotidine-5'-monophosphate to uridine monophosphate. Defects in this gene are the cause of hereditary orotic aciduria. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]
Gene Name: Uridine Monophosphate Synthetase
Chromosome: CHR3: 124449212 -124468119
Locus: 3q21.2
ERC2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the Rab3-interacting molecule (RIM)-binding protein family. Members of this protein family form part of the cytomatrix at the active zone (CAZ) complex and function as regulators of neurotransmitter release. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]
Gene Name: ELKS/RAB6-interacting/CAST Family Member 2
Chromosome: CHR3: 55542335 -56502391
Locus: 3p14.3
