UIMC1-PTPRO Fusion FISH Probe
The UIMC1-PTPRO Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the UIMC1 and PTPRO genes. The fusion of the UIMC1 and PTPRO genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

PTPRO Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the R3 subtype family of receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatases. These proteins are localized to the apical surface of polarized cells and may have tissue-specific functions through activation of Src family kinases. This gene contains two distinct promoters, and alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed. The encoded proteins may have multiple isoform-specific and tissue-specific functions, including the regulation of osteoclast production and activity, inhibition of cell proliferation and facilitation of apoptosis. This gene is a candidate tumor suppressor, and decreased expression of this gene has been observed in several types of cancer. [provided by RefSeq, May 2011]
Gene Name: Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase, Receptor Type O
Chromosome: CHR12: 15475190 -15751265
Locus: 12p13-p12
UIMC1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a nuclear protein that interacts with Brca1 (breast cancer 1) in a complex to recognize and repair DNA lesions. This protein binds ubiquitinated lysine 63 of histone H2A and H2AX. This protein may also function as a repressor of transcription. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]
