The UIMC1-PMM2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the UIMC1 and PMM2 genes. The fusion of the UIMC1 and PMM2 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the isomerization of mannose 6-phosphate to mannose 1-phosphate, which is a precursor to GDP-mannose necessary for the synthesis of dolichol-P-oligosaccharides.
