UBE4B-RBP7 Fusion FISH Probe
The UBE4B-RBP7 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the UBE4B and RBP7 genes. The fusion of the UBE4B and RBP7 genes has been associated with Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma, Thymoma, and Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

UBE4B Gene Summary
The modification of proteins with ubiquitin is an important cellular mechanism for targeting abnormal or short-lived proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves at least three classes of enzymes: ubiquitin-activating enzymes, or E1s, ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes, or E2s, and ubiquitin-protein ligases, or E3s. This gene encodes an additional conjugation factor, E4, which is involved in multiubiquitin chain assembly. This gene is also the strongest candidate in the neuroblastoma tumor suppressor genes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Ubiquitination Factor E4B
Chromosome: CHR1: 10093040 -10241296
Locus: 1p36.22
RBP7 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the cellular retinol-binding protein (CRBP) family, whose members are required for vitamin A stability and metabolism. The encoded protein binds all-trans-retinol and is structurally similar to other CRBPs; however, it has a lower binding affinity for retinol than other CRBPs. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2016]
Gene Name: Retinol Binding Protein 7
Chromosome: CHR1: 10057254 -10076078
Locus: 1p36.22
