TWF2-ALAS1 Fusion FISH Probe
The TWF2-ALAS1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the TWF2 and ALAS1 genes. The fusion of the TWF2 and ALAS1 genes has been associated with Uterine Carcinosarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ALAS1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes the mitochondrial enzyme which is catalyzes the rate-limiting step in heme (iron-protoporphyrin) biosynthesis. The enzyme encoded by this gene is the housekeeping enzyme; a separate gene encodes a form of the enzyme that is specific for erythroid tissue. The level of the mature encoded protein is regulated by heme: high levels of heme down-regulate the mature enzyme in mitochondria while low heme levels up-regulate. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 12. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2015]
Gene Name: 5'-aminolevulinate Synthase 1
Chromosome: CHR3: 52232115 -52248343
Locus: 3p21.2
TWF2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene was identified by its interaction with the catalytic domain of protein kinase C-zeta. The encoded protein contains an actin-binding site and an ATP-binding site. It is most closely related to twinfilin (PTK9), a conserved actin monomer-binding protein. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Twinfilin Actin Binding Protein 2
Chromosome: CHR3: 52262625 -52273183
Locus: 3p21.2
