TSPAN1-EIF2AK2 Fusion FISH Probe
The TSPAN1-EIF2AK2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the TSPAN1 and EIF2AK2 genes. The fusion of the TSPAN1 and EIF2AK2 genes has been associated with Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

EIF2AK2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a serine/threonine protein kinase that is activated by autophosphorylation after binding to dsRNA. The activated form of the encoded protein can phosphorylate translation initiation factor EIF2S1, which in turn inhibits protein synthesis. This protein is also activated by manganese ions and heparin. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]
Gene Name: Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 2 Alpha Kinase 2
Chromosome: CHR2: 37333698 -37384190
Locus: 2p22.2
TSPAN1 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family. Most of these members are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. The proteins mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Tetraspanin 1
