TMPRSS6-MPST Fusion FISH Probe
The TMPRSS6-MPST Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the TMPRSS6 and MPST genes. The fusion of the TMPRSS6 and MPST genes has been associated with Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

MPST Gene Summary
This protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the transfer of a sulfur ion from 3-mercaptopyruvate to cyanide or other thiol compounds. It may be involved in cysteine degradation and cyanide detoxification. There is confusion in literature between this protein (mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase, MPST), which appears to be cytoplasmic, and thiosulfate sulfurtransferase (rhodanese, TST, GeneID:7263), which is a mitochondrial protein. Deficiency in MPST activity has been implicated in a rare inheritable disorder known as mercaptolactate-cysteine disulfiduria (MCDU). Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding same or different isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Mercaptopyruvate Sulfurtransferase
Chromosome: CHR22: 37415701 -37425863
Locus: 22q12.3
TMPRSS6 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a type II transmembrane serine proteinase that is found attached to the cell surface. The encoded protein may be involved in matrix remodeling processes in the liver. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2014]
Gene Name: Transmembrane Protease, Serine 6
Chromosome: CHR22: 37461478 -37499693
Locus: 22q12.3
