TMPRSS2-MORC3 Fusion FISH Probe

The TMPRSS2-MORC3 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the TMPRSS2 and MORC3 genes. The fusion of the TMPRSS2 and MORC3 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

TMPRSS2 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the serine protease family. The encoded protein contains a type II transmembrane domain, a receptor class A domain, a scavenger receptor cysteine-rich domain and a protease domain. Serine proteases are known to be involved in many physiological and pathological processes. This gene was demonstrated to be up-regulated by androgenic hormones in prostate cancer cells and down-regulated in androgen-independent prostate cancer tissue. The protease domain of this protein is thought to be cleaved and secreted into cell media after autocleavage. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2008]

Gene Name: Transmembrane Protease, Serine 2

Chromosome: CHR21: 42836477 -42880085

Locus: 21q22.3

MORC3 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a protein that localizes to the nuclear matrix and forms nuclear bodies via an ATP-dependent mechanism. The protein is predicted to have coiled-coil and zinc finger domains and has RNA binding activity. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]

Gene Name: MORC Family CW-type Zinc Finger 3

Chromosome: CHR21: 37692486 -37748944
