TESK2-C8A Fusion FISH Probe
The TESK2-C8A Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the TESK2 and C8A genes. The fusion of the TESK2 and C8A genes has been associated with Esophageal Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

C8A Gene Summary
C8 is a component of the complement system and contains three polypeptides, alpha, beta and gamma. This gene encodes the alpha subunit of C8. C8 participates in the formation of the membrane attack complex (MAC). The MAC assembles on bacterial membranes to form a pore, permitting disruption of bacterial membrane organization. Mutations in this gene cause complement C8 alpha-gamma deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2008]
Gene Name: Complement C8 Alpha Chain
Chromosome: CHR1: 57320442 -57383894
Locus: 1p32.2
TESK2 Gene Summary
This gene product is a serine/threonine protein kinase that contains an N-terminal protein kinase domain that is structurally similar to the kinase domains of testis-specific protein kinase-1 and the LIM motif-containing protein kinases (LIMKs). Its overall structure is most related to the former, indicating that it belongs to the TESK subgroup of the LIMK/TESK family of protein kinases. This gene is predominantly expressed in testis and prostate. The developmental expression pattern of the rat gene in testis suggests an important role for this gene in meitoic stages and/or early stages of spermiogenesis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]
Gene Name: Testis-specific Kinase 2
Chromosome: CHR1: 45809554 -45956840
Locus: 1p34.1
