TASP1-HLCS Fusion FISH Probe
The TASP1-HLCS Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the TASP1 and HLCS genes. The fusion of the TASP1 and HLCS genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

HLCS Gene Summary
This gene encodes an enzyme that catalyzes the binding of biotin to carboxylases and histones. The protein plays an important role in gluconeogenesis, fatty acid synthesis and branched chain amino acid catabolism. Defects in this gene are the cause of holocarboxylase synthetase deficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified.[provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]
Gene Name: Holocarboxylase Synthetase
Chromosome: CHR21: 38123188 -38362545
Locus: 21q22.13
TASP1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes an endopeptidase that cleaves specific substrates following aspartate residues. The encoded protein undergoes posttranslational autoproteolytic processing to generate alpha and beta subunits, which reassemble into the active alpha2-beta2 heterotetramer. It is required to cleave MLL, a protein required for the maintenance of HOX gene expression, and TFIIA, a basal transcription factor. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, but their biological validity has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Taspase 1
Chromosome: CHR20: 13370035 -13619583
Locus: 20p12.1
