TARBP1-RBM34 Fusion FISH Probe

The TARBP1-RBM34 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the TARBP1 and RBM34 genes. The fusion of the TARBP1 and RBM34 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

TARBP1 Gene Summary

HIV-1, the causative agent of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), contains an RNA genome that produces a chromosomally integrated DNA during the replicative cycle. Activation of HIV-1 gene expression by the transactivator Tat is dependent on an RNA regulatory element (TAR) located downstream of the transcription initiation site. This element forms a stable stem-loop structure and can be bound by either the protein encoded by this gene or by RNA polymerase II. This protein may act to disengage RNA polymerase II from TAR during transcriptional elongation. Alternatively spliced transcripts of this gene may exist, but their full-length natures have not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: TAR (HIV-1) RNA Binding Protein 1

Chromosome: CHR1: 234527058 -234614849

Locus: 1q42.2

RBM34 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the RNA-binding motif family of RNA recognition motif proteins. The encoded protein contains an RNA-binding domain made up of two RNA recognition motif subdomains referred to as RNA recognition motif-1 and RNA recognition motif-2. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2016]

Gene Name: RNA Binding Motif Protein 34

Chromosome: CHR1: 235294497 -235324571

Locus: 1q42.3
