STX8-RTN1 Fusion FISH Probe
The STX8-RTN1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the STX8 and RTN1 genes. The fusion of the STX8 and RTN1 genes has been associated with Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

RTN1 Gene Summary
This gene belongs to the family of reticulon encoding genes. Reticulons are associated with the endoplasmic reticulum, and are involved in neuroendocrine secretion or in membrane trafficking in neuroendocrine cells. This gene is considered to be a specific marker for neurological diseases and cancer, and is a potential molecular target for therapy. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]
Gene Name: Reticulon 1
Chromosome: CHR14: 60062693 -60337557
Locus: 14q23.1
STX8 Gene Summary
The gene is a member of the syntaxin family. The encoded protein is involved in protein trafficking from early to late endosomes via vesicle fusion and exocytosis. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 12. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
Gene Name: Syntaxin 8
Chromosome: CHR17: 9153787 -9479275
Locus: 17p13.1
