STK3-POLR2K Fusion FISH Probe
The STK3-POLR2K Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the STK3 and POLR2K genes. The fusion of the STK3 and POLR2K genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

POLR2K Gene Summary
This gene encodes one of the smallest subunits of RNA polymerase II, the polymerase responsible for synthesizing messenger RNA in eukaryotes. This subunit is shared by the other two DNA-directed RNA polymerases. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: RNA Polymerase II Subunit K
Chromosome: CHR8: 101162838 -101166230
Locus: 8q22.2
STK3 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a serine/threonine protein kinase activated by proapoptotic molecules indicating the encoded protein functions as a growth suppressor. Cleavage of the protein product by caspase removes the inhibitory C-terminal portion. The N-terminal portion is transported to the nucleus where it homodimerizes to form the active kinase which promotes the condensation of chromatin during apoptosis. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]
Gene Name: Serine/threonine Kinase 3
Chromosome: CHR8: 99466860 -99837909
Locus: 8q22.2
