ST6GALNAC2-BRIP1 Fusion FISH Probe
The ST6GALNAC2-BRIP1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ST6GALNAC2 and BRIP1 genes. The fusion of the ST6GALNAC2 and BRIP1 genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ST6GALNAC2 Gene Summary
ST6GALNAC2 belongs to a family of sialyltransferases that add sialic acids to the nonreducing ends of glycoconjugates. At the cell surface, these modifications have roles in cell-cell and cell-substrate interactions, bacterial adhesion, and protein targeting (Samyn-Petit et al., 2000 [PubMed 10742600]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
Gene Name: ST6 N-acetylgalactosaminide Alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase 2
Chromosome: CHR17: 74561460 -74582145
Locus: 17q25.1
BRIP1 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the RecQ DEAH helicase family and interacts with the BRCT repeats of breast cancer, type 1 (BRCA1). The bound complex is important in the normal double-strand break repair function of breast cancer, type 1 (BRCA1). This gene may be a target of germline cancer-inducing mutations. Gene Name: BRCA1 Interacting Protein C-terminal Helicase 1
Chromosome: CHR17: 59756546 -59940920
Locus: 17q23.2
