ST6GAL1-KNG1 Fusion FISH Probe
The ST6GAL1-KNG1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the ST6GAL1 and KNG1 genes. The fusion of the ST6GAL1 and KNG1 genes has been associated with Lung Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

KNG1 Gene Summary
This gene uses alternative splicing to generate two different proteins- high molecular weight kininogen (HMWK) and low molecular weight kininogen (LMWK). HMWK is essential for blood coagulation and assembly of the kallikrein-kinin system. Also, bradykinin, a peptide causing numerous physiological effects, is released from HMWK. Bradykinin also functions as an antimicrobial peptide with antibacterial and antifungal activity. In contrast to HMWK, LMWK is not involved in blood coagulation. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2014]
Gene Name: Kininogen 1
Chromosome: CHR3: 186435097 -186462199
Locus: 3q27.3
ST6GAL1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. The encoded protein is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. The protein, which is normally found in the Golgi but can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form, is involved in the generation of the cell-surface carbohydrate determinants and differentiation antigens HB-6, CD75, and CD76. This gene has been incorrectly referred to as CD75. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2017]
Gene Name: ST6 Beta-galactoside Alpha-2,6-sialyltransferase 1
Chromosome: CHR3: 186648314 -186796341
Locus: 3q27.3
