SPTBN1-SPAG5 Fusion FISH Probe
The SPTBN1-SPAG5 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SPTBN1 and SPAG5 genes. The fusion of the SPTBN1 and SPAG5 genes has been associated with Stomach Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

SPTBN1 Gene Summary
Spectrin is an actin crosslinking and molecular scaffold protein that links the plasma membrane to the actin cytoskeleton, and functions in the determination of cell shape, arrangement of transmembrane proteins, and organization of organelles. It is composed of two antiparallel dimers of alpha- and beta- subunits. This gene is one member of a family of beta-spectrin genes. The encoded protein contains an N-terminal actin-binding domain, and 17 spectrin repeats which are involved in dimer formation. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Spectrin Beta, Non-erythrocytic 1
Chromosome: CHR2: 54683453 -54898583
Locus: 2p16.2
SPAG5 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a protein associated with the mitotic spindle apparatus. The encoded protein may be involved in the functional and dynamic regulation of mitotic spindles. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Sperm Associated Antigen 5
Chromosome: CHR17: 26904582 -26926056
Locus: 17q11.2
