The SMURF1-CFLAR Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SMURF1 and CFLAR genes. The fusion of the SMURF1 and CFLAR genes has been associated with Esophageal Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

The protein encoded by this gene is a regulator of apoptosis and is structurally similar to caspase-8. However, the encoded protein lacks caspase activity and appears to be itself cleaved into two peptides by caspase-8.
