SLMAP-FAF1 Fusion FISH Probe
The SLMAP-FAF1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SLMAP and FAF1 genes. The fusion of the SLMAP and FAF1 genes has been associated with Esophageal Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

SLMAP Gene Summary
This gene encodes a component of a conserved striatin-interacting phosphatase and kinase complex. Striatin family complexes participate in a variety of cellular processes including signaling, cell cycle control, cell migration, Golgi assembly, and apoptosis. The protein encoded by this gene is a coiled-coil, tail-anchored membrane protein with a single C-terminal transmembrane domain that is posttranslationally inserted into membranes. Mutations in this gene are associated with Brugada syndrome, a cardiac channelopathy. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015]
Gene Name: Sarcolemma Associated Protein
Chromosome: CHR3: 57743173 -57914894
Locus: 3p14.3
FAF1 Gene Summary
Interaction of Fas ligand (TNFSF6) with the FAS antigen (TNFRSF6) mediates programmed cell death, also called apoptosis, in a number of organ systems. The protein encoded by this gene binds to FAS antigen and can initiate apoptosis or enhance apoptosis initiated through FAS antigen. Initiation of apoptosis by the protein encoded by this gene requires a ubiquitin-like domain but not the FAS-binding domain. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Fas Associated Factor 1
