SLMAP-CYP11A1 Fusion FISH Probe
The SLMAP-CYP11A1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SLMAP and CYP11A1 genes. The fusion of the SLMAP and CYP11A1 genes has been associated with Uterine Carcinosarcoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

CYP11A1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the mitochondrial inner membrane and catalyzes the conversion of cholesterol to pregnenolone, the first and rate-limiting step in the synthesis of the steroid hormones. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. The cellular location of the smaller isoform is unclear since it lacks the mitochondrial-targeting transit peptide. Gene Name: Cytochrome P450 Family 11 Subfamily A Member 1
Chromosome: CHR15: 74630102 -74660081
Locus: 15q24.1
SLMAP Gene Summary
This gene encodes a component of a conserved striatin-interacting phosphatase and kinase complex. Striatin family complexes participate in a variety of cellular processes including signaling, cell cycle control, cell migration, Golgi assembly, and apoptosis. The protein encoded by this gene is a coiled-coil, tail-anchored membrane protein with a single C-terminal transmembrane domain that is posttranslationally inserted into membranes. Mutations in this gene are associated with Brugada syndrome, a cardiac channelopathy. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015]
