SLC44A4-OGT Fusion FISH Probe
The SLC44A4-OGT Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SLC44A4 and OGT genes. The fusion of the SLC44A4 and OGT genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

OGT Gene Summary
This gene encodes a glycosyltransferase that catalyzes the addition of a single N-acetylglucosamine in O-glycosidic linkage to serine or threonine residues. Since both phosphorylation and glycosylation compete for similar serine or threonine residues, the two processes may compete for sites, or they may alter the substrate specificity of nearby sites by steric or electrostatic effects. The protein contains multiple tetratricopeptide repeats that are required for optimal recognition of substrates. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]
Gene Name: O-linked N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) Transferase
Chromosome: CHRX: 70752911 -70795747
Locus: Xq13.1
SLC44A4 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene may be a sodium-dependent transmembrane transport protein involved in the uptake of choline by cholinergic neurons. Defects in this gene can cause sialidosis, a lysosomal storage disease. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]
Gene Name: Solute Carrier Family 44 Member 4
Chromosome: CHR6_cox_hap2: 3340716 -3356577
Locus: 6p21.33
