SLC26A6-CYP2C8 Fusion FISH Probe
The SLC26A6-CYP2C8 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SLC26A6 and CYP2C8 genes. The fusion of the SLC26A6 and CYP2C8 genes has been associated with Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

CYP2C8 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and its expression is induced by phenobarbital. The enzyme is known to metabolize many xenobiotics, including the anticonvulsive drug mephenytoin, benzo(a)pyrene, 7-ethyoxycoumarin, and the anti-cancer drug taxol. This gene is located within a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 10q24. Several transcript variants encoding a few different isoforms have been found for this gene. Gene Name: Cytochrome P450 Family 2 Subfamily C Member 8
Chromosome: CHR10: 96796528 -96829254
Locus: 10q23.33
SLC26A6 Gene Summary
This gene belongs to the solute carrier 26 family, whose members encode anion transporter proteins. This particular family member encodes a protein involved in transporting chloride, oxalate, sulfate and bicarbonate. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]
