The SDF2-RPTOR Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the SDF2 and RPTOR genes. The fusion of the SDF2 and RPTOR genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. The protein encoded by this gene is believed to be a secretory protein. It has regions of similarity to hydrophilic segments of yeast mannosyltransferases. Its expression is ubiquitous and the gene appears to be relatively conserved among mammals. Alternate splicing results in both coding and non-coding variants. The protein positively regulates the downstream effector ribosomal protein S6 kinase, and negatively regulates the mTOR kinase.
