RNF216-EIF2AK1 Fusion FISH Probe
The RNF216-EIF2AK1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the RNF216 and EIF2AK1 genes. The fusion of the RNF216 and EIF2AK1 genes has been associated with Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

EIF2AK1 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene acts at the level of translation initiation to downregulate protein synthesis in response to stress. The encoded protein is a kinase that can be inactivated by hemin. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008]
Gene Name: Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 2 Alpha Kinase 1
Chromosome: CHR7: 6061877 -6098860
Locus: 7p22.1
RNF216 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a cytoplasmic protein which specifically colocalizes and interacts with the serine/threonine protein kinase, receptor-interacting protein (RIP). Zinc finger domains of the encoded protein are required for its interaction with RIP and for inhibition of TNF- and IL1-induced NF-kappa B activation pathways. The encoded protein may also function as an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase which accepts ubiquitin from E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes and transfers it to substrates. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described for this locus but the full-length natures of only some are known. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Ring Finger Protein 216
Chromosome: CHR7: 5659671 -5821361
Locus: 7p22.1
