RIMS2-ODF1 Fusion FISH Probe
The RIMS2-ODF1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the RIMS2 and ODF1 genes. The fusion of the RIMS2 and ODF1 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

ODF1 Gene Summary
The outer dense fibers are cytoskeletal structures that surround the axoneme in the middle piece and principal piece of the sperm tail. The fibers function in maintaining the elastic structure and recoil of the sperm tail as well as in protecting the tail from shear forces during epididymal transport and ejaculation. Defects in the outer dense fibers lead to abnormal sperm morphology and infertility. The human outer dense fibers contains at least 10 major proteins and this gene encodes the main protein. Gene Name: Outer Dense Fiber Of Sperm Tails 1
Chromosome: CHR8: 103563847 -103573245
Locus: 8q22.3
RIMS2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a presynaptic protein that interacts with RAB3, a protein important for normal neurotransmitter release. The encoded protein can also bind several other synaptic proteins, including UNC-13 homolog B, ELKS/Rab6-interacting/CAST family member 1, and synaptotagmin 1. This protein is involved in synaptic membrane exocytosis. Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with degenerative lumbar scoliosis. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2017]
Gene Name: Regulating Synaptic Membrane Exocytosis 2
Chromosome: CHR8: 104512975 -105266656
Locus: 8q22.3
