RASSF8-CMAS Fusion FISH Probe

The RASSF8-CMAS Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the RASSF8 and CMAS genes. The fusion of the RASSF8 and CMAS genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

RASSF8 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of the Ras-assocation domain family (RASSF) of tumor suppressor proteins. This gene is essential for maintaining adherens junction function in epithelial cells and has a role in epithelial cell migration. It is a lung tumor suppressor gene candidate. A chromosomal translocation t(12;22)(p11.2;q13.3) leading to the fusion of this gene and the FBLN1 gene is found in a complex type of synpolydactyly. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2011]

Gene Name: Ras Association Domain Family Member 8

Chromosome: CHR12: 26111963 -26232825

Locus: 12p12.1

CMAS Gene Summary

This gene encodes an enzyme that converts N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNAc) to cytidine 5'-monophosphate N-acetylneuraminic acid (CMP-NeuNAc). This process is important in the formation of sialylated glycoprotein and glycolipids. This modification plays a role in cell-cell communications and immune responses. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]

Gene Name: Cytidine Monophosphate N-acetylneuraminic Acid Synthetase

Chromosome: CHR12: 22199158 -22218602

Locus: 12p12.1
