RAPGEF5-ISPD Fusion FISH Probe
The RAPGEF5-ISPD Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the RAPGEF5 and ISPD genes. The fusion of the RAPGEF5 and ISPD genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

RAPGEF5 Gene Summary
Members of the RAS (see HRAS; MIM 190020) subfamily of GTPases function in signal transduction as GTP/GDP-regulated switches that cycle between inactive GDP- and active GTP-bound states. Guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs), such as RAPGEF5, serve as RAS activators by promoting acquisition of GTP to maintain the active GTP-bound state and are the key link between cell surface receptors and RAS activation (Rebhun et al., 2000 [PubMed 10934204]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
Gene Name: Rap Guanine Nucleotide Exchange Factor 5
Chromosome: CHR7: 22157907 -22396533
Locus: 7p15.3
ISPD Gene Summary
This gene encodes a 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate cytidylyltransferase-like protein. Mutations in this gene are the cause of Walker-Warburg syndrome. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]
Gene Name: Isoprenoid Synthase Domain Containing
Chromosome: CHR7: 16127151 -16460947
Locus: 7p21.2
