PPME1-KANK1 Fusion FISH Probe

The PPME1-KANK1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PPME1 and KANK1 genes. The fusion of the PPME1 and KANK1 genes has been associated with Bladder Urothelial Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use.

KANK1 Gene Summary

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the Kank family of proteins, which contain multiple ankyrin repeat domains. This family member functions in cytoskeleton formation by regulating actin polymerization. This gene is a candidate tumor suppressor for renal cell carcinoma. Mutations in this gene cause cerebral palsy spastic quadriplegic type 2, a central nervous system development disorder. A t(5;9) translocation results in fusion of the platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta gene (PDGFRB) on chromosome 5 with this gene in a myeloproliferative neoplasm featuring severe thrombocythemia. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 20. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014]

Gene Name: KN Motif And Ankyrin Repeat Domains 1

Chromosome: CHR9: 504702 -746103

Locus: 9p24.3

PPME1 Gene Summary

This gene encodes a protein phosphatase methylesterase localized to the nucleus. The encoded protein acts on the protein phosphatase-2A catalytic subunit and supports the ERK pathway through dephosphorylation of regulatory proteins. It plays a role in malignant glioma progression. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2012]

Gene Name: Protein Phosphatase Methylesterase 1
