PPAT-KIF16B Fusion FISH Probe
The PPAT-KIF16B Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PPAT and KIF16B genes. The fusion of the PPAT and KIF16B genes has been associated with Skin Cutaneous Melanoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

PPAT Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the purine/pyrimidine phosphoribosyltransferase family. It is a regulatory allosteric enzyme that catalyzes the first step of de novo purine nucleotide biosythetic pathway. This gene and PAICS/AIRC gene, a bifunctional enzyme catalyzing steps six and seven of this pathway, are located in close proximity on chromosome 4, and divergently transcribed from an intergenic region. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]
Gene Name: Phosphoribosyl Pyrophosphate Amidotransferase
Chromosome: CHR4: 57259528 -57301802
Locus: 4q12
KIF16B Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a kinesin-like protein that may be involved in intracellular trafficking. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]
Gene Name: Kinesin Family Member 16B
Chromosome: CHR20: 16252748 -16554079
Locus: 20p12.1
