PPA2-SORCS2 Fusion FISH Probe
The PPA2-SORCS2 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PPA2 and SORCS2 genes. The fusion of the PPA2 and SORCS2 genes has been associated with Prostate Adenocarcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

PPA2 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is localized to the mitochondrion, is highly similar to members of the inorganic pyrophosphatase (PPase) family, and contains the signature sequence essential for the catalytic activity of PPase. PPases catalyze the hydrolysis of pyrophosphate to inorganic phosphate, which is important for the phosphate metabolism of cells. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Pyrophosphatase (inorganic) 2
Chromosome: CHR4: 106290233 -106395227
Locus: 4q24
SORCS2 Gene Summary
This gene encodes one family member of vacuolar protein sorting 10 (VPS10) domain-containing receptor proteins. The VPS10 domain name comes from the yeast carboxypeptidase Y sorting receptor Vps10 protein. Members of this gene family are large with many exons but the CDS lengths are usually less than 3700 nt. Very large introns typically separate the exons encoding the VPS10 domain; the remaining exons are separated by much smaller-sized introns. These genes are strongly expressed in the central nervous system. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Gene Name: Sortilin Related VPS10 Domain Containing Receptor 2
Chromosome: CHR4: 7194373 -7744564
Locus: 4p16.1
