POLR1C-MDGA1 Fusion FISH Probe
The POLR1C-MDGA1 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the POLR1C and MDGA1 genes. The fusion of the POLR1C and MDGA1 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.
** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

POLR1C Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of both RNA polymerase I and RNA polymerase III complexes. The encoded protein is part of the Pol core element. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Treacher Collins syndrome (TCS) and hypomyelinating leukodystrophy 11. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Gene Name: RNA Polymerase I Subunit C
Chromosome: CHR6: 43484776 -43489246
Locus: 6p21.1
MDGA1 Gene Summary
This gene encodes a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface glycoprotein that is expressed predominantly in the developing nervous system. In addition to possessing several cell adhesion molecule-like domains, the mature protein has six Ig-like domains, a single fibronectin type III domain, a MAM domain and a C-terminal GPI-anchoring site. Studies in other mammals suggest this protein plays a role in cell adhesion, migration, and axon guidance and, in the developing brain, neuronal migration. In humans, this gene is associated with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2016]
Gene Name: MAM Domain Containing Glycosylphosphatidylinositol Anchor 1
Chromosome: CHR6: 37600283 -37665766
Locus: 6p21.2
