PNPO-NPEPPS Fusion FISH Probe

The PNPO-NPEPPS Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PNPO and NPEPPS genes. The fusion of the PNPO and NPEPPS genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

NPEPPS Gene Summary

This gene encodes the puromycin-sensitive aminopeptidase, a zinc metallopeptidase which hydrolyzes amino acids from the N-terminus of its substrate. The protein has been localized to both the cytoplasm and to cellular membranes. This enzyme degrades enkaphalins in the brain, and studies in mouse suggest that it is involved in proteolytic events regulating the cell cycle. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Aminopeptidase Puromycin Sensitive

Chromosome: CHR17: 45608443 -45700642

Locus: 17q21.32

PNPO Gene Summary

The enzyme encoded by this gene catalyzes the terminal, rate-limiting step in the synthesis of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, also known as vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 is a required co-factor for enzymes involved in both homocysteine metabolism and synthesis of neurotransmitters such as catecholamine. Mutations in this gene result in pyridoxamine 5'-phosphate oxidase (PNPO) deficiency, a form of neonatal epileptic encephalopathy. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]

Gene Name: Pyridoxamine 5'-phosphate Oxidase

Chromosome: CHR17: 46018888 -46026674

Locus: 17q21.32
