PLIN1-ACSL6 Fusion FISH Probe
The PLIN1-ACSL6 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PLIN1 and ACSL6 genes. The fusion of the PLIN1 and ACSL6 genes has been associated with Breast Invasive Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

PLIN1 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene coats lipid storage droplets in adipocytes, thereby protecting them until they can be broken down by hormone-sensitive lipase. The encoded protein is the major cAMP-dependent protein kinase substrate in adipocytes and, when unphosphorylated, may play a role in the inhibition of lipolysis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants varying in the 5' UTR, but encoding the same protein, have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]
Gene Name: Perilipin 1
Chromosome: CHR15: 90207599 -90222648
Locus: 15q26.1
ACSL6 Gene Summary
The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the formation of acyl-CoA from fatty acids, ATP, and CoA, using magnesium as a cofactor. The encoded protein plays a major role in fatty acid metabolism in the brain. Translocations with the ETV6 gene are causes of myelodysplastic syndrome with basophilia, acute myelogenous leukemia with eosinophilia, and acute eosinophilic leukemia. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2011]
Gene Name: Acyl-CoA Synthetase Long Chain Family Member 6
Chromosome: CHR5: 131285666 -131347761
Locus: 5q31.1
