PITPNA-PRPF8 Fusion FISH Probe

The PITPNA-PRPF8 Fusion FISH Probe is used to confirm a fusion of the PITPNA and PRPF8 genes. The fusion of the PITPNA and PRPF8 genes has been associated with Ovarian Serous Cystadenocarcinoma, and Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma. These probes are FISH confirmed on normal peripheral blood in both interphase nuclei and metaphase spreads before shipment. Typical turnaround time for this product is 7-14 days after purchase.

** This product is for in vitro and research use only. This product is not intended for diagnostic use. Please note that both genes fall on the same chromosome and inter-chromosomal detection may be difficult to detect depending on the genes proximity to one another. Please consult our support staff before ordering this product to ensure that the probe can be designed to meet your specific needs.

PITPNA Gene Summary

This gene encodes a member of a family of lipid-binding proteins that transfer molecules of phosphatidylinositol or phosphatidylcholine between membrane surfaces. The protein is implicated in phospholipase C signaling and in the production of phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3) by phosphoinositide-3-kinase.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Gene Name: Phosphatidylinositol Transfer Protein Alpha

Chromosome: CHR17: 1421282 -1466110

Locus: 17p13.3

PRPF8 Gene Summary

Pre-mRNA splicing occurs in 2 sequential transesterification steps. The protein encoded by this gene is a component of both U2- and U12-dependent spliceosomes, and found to be essential for the catalytic step II in pre-mRNA splicing process. It contains several WD repeats, which function in protein-protein interactions. This protein has a sequence similarity to yeast Prp8 protein. This gene is a candidate gene for autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Gene Name: Pre-mRNA Processing Factor 8

Chromosome: CHR17: 1553922 -1588176

Locus: 17p13.3
